She’ll talk about her job progression, which you’ll see includes both journalism and public relations experiences.
- Summer internships at Sports & Activities Directory and Forum Publishing (news position); Atlanta Publishing Group (book and PR position); UF Health Science Center /Shands (magazine and PR position); GTN (TV news)
- Full-time copy editor for The Seminole Tribune (social media, writing, TV, photo)
- Full-time senior writer for The Villages Daily Sun (writing, TV, radio)
I asked Kathryn to talk about examples of working with public relations content and public relations professionals for her reporting.
“The most impactful stories I’ve done at The Villages Daily Sun have been those on the Boston bombings. Villages resident Bob O’Brien lost his 8-year-old grandson, Martin, to the bombing. O’Brien’s daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter also suffered injuries.
“News releases on the family’s blog, http://richardfamillyboston.tumblr.com, have been critical to my coverage. The site, run by spokesman Larry Marchese, gives updates on the family and has been a crucial source of quotes and information for my stories.“
